| The
2620 Ethernet controller is capable of full duplex operation
and auto-negotiation for 10/100/1000Mbit. The 2620 incorporate
the MDIX feature that allows it to detect for the cross and
non-cross cables and correct automatically. The 2620 Ethernet/PCI
interface includes a powerful DMA engine with very deep FIFO
buffers (64K byte). This assures continuous, full bandwidth
operation with minimum PCI overhead. The 2620 do not have
a PCI-to-PCI bridge on board for Single or Dual port version.
Host Off-loading
Features
Packet filtering based on checksum errors
SNMP and RMON statistic counters
Hardware TCP checksum off-loading
Support for various address filtering modes:
• 16 exact matches (unicast or multicast)
• 4096-bit hash filter for multicast frames
• Promiscuous unicast and promiscuous multicast transfer
modes
Low cost,
effective interconnect
Two 2620 boards can be directly cabled. This configuration
creates a full duplex 1000Mbit dedicated data path - delivering
high bandwidth at very low cost. More complex, dedicated interconnects
can be created using a hub or switch. Both point-to-point
and switched hubs, in full duplex mode, remove many determinism
concerns raised with traditional Ethernet solutions. This
makes the 2620 an excellent candidate for high performance
interconnects that require real time determinism.
Software
support
TriEMS has software drivers for all the popular operating
systems (e.g. VxWorks, Linux, Windows NT, Solaris, etc.).
These drivers have been carefully designed and implemented
to fit within the LAN protocol stack of the host operating
system. In this way, all facilities available from the host
OS can be utilized across the 2620.
