COMPACT PACKET SWITCHING
PICMG ® 2.16 Compact Packet Switching Backplane
(cPSB) compliance on dual 10/100 Base-T Ethernet ports with optional front
panel access.
HOT SWAP
TRL 6227 allows hot swap compliant add-on boards on
the cPCI bus to be removed or inserted with power on. Individual clocks for
each slot on back plane must be provided. Add-on boards access to the back
plane ENUM# signals are required to be in compliance with the PICMG 2.1 Hot
Swap Specification. The TRL6227 is designed to inserted or removed in a
powered system.
THERMAL MANAGEMENT
With external forced air-cooling and with adequate
ventilation, cooling is achieved with an integrated heat sink. Built in
with environment sensors, the TRL 6227 is rated for 0° to 55° C operation up
to 1.5GMHz processor.
DRAM PERFORMANCE
Total
capacity up to 2Gbytes of PC133MHz SDRAM on two DIMM socket is used for
high performance. Optional Error Correcting (ECC) DRAM is available for
improved reliability and data integrity.
FLASH MEMORY
TRL
6227 comes with up to 2Mbits of on board flash memory for system BIOS.
Optional user defined application flash memory can be upgraded up to 576M
Bytes on a CompactFlash socket.
CACHE MEMORY
The
processor contains internal Level one (L1) cache memory. Level two (L2)
cache is provided on-board the Intel CPU module.
ON BOARD PERIPHERALS
The
TRL6227 contains many PC standard on-board peripherals, making it a very
powerful stand alone single board computer as well as a sophisticated main
cPCI processor. In addition to the standard keyboard, timers, real-time
clock, two serial (16550) ports and IEEE-1284 bi-direction parallel ports,
it also contains two Enhanced IDE (EIDE) controllers, a mouse port, a floppy
controller and four Universal Serial Bus (USB) ports.
VIDEO DISPLAY PORT
The
display port provides an on-board highly integrated video processor with
2MB or optional 4MB memory supporting up to 1280x1024 resolution.
WATCHDOG TIMER
The
watchdog timer can be set by the user to monitor system operation. Failure
of the data to strobe the watchdog timer within a fixed time period will
provide auto power-on reset for the system.
ENHANCED IDE INTERFACE
TRL
6227 provides support for two integrated PCI-based Enhanced IDE (EIDE)
controllers. The primary EIDE provides the option for two IDE devices
integrated on the Peripheral Device Carrier board. It is mounted on the
TRL6227 to become a two-slot configuration. Both the primary and secondary
EIDE channels are available through the rear-panel I/O J3 connector.
FLOPPY INTERFACE
An
on-board floppy disk controller provides the option for an integrated
floppy disk drive. The floppy disk drive signals are routed to the
rear-panel I/O J3 connector for off-board support.
KEYBOARD AND MOUSE
The TRL6227 supports a PS/2 style keyboard and mouse
connector at the front panel as well as through the rear-panel I/O J3
connector.
SWITCHES AND INDICATORS
System
power-on reset switch are accessible from the front panel. LED’s are
provided on the front-panel for EIDE activities, Ethernet negotiation and
speed status, system power status, CPU activities and optional user defined
functions.
BACK PANEL I/O CARD
The
TRL 6227 brings most I/O signals out of the rear of the board on J3 and J5.
These signals can be connected via a rear-panel 6U transition board TRL
1215.
PMC EXPANSION SLOT
The
built-in 64-bit 66MHz PMC slot makes the TRL6227 configurable for a wide
range of system requirements.
PERIPHERAL ADAPTER
The
optional Peripheral Adapter mounted on top the SBC to be integrated as a
three-slot configuration. The Adapter can accommodate two EIDE devices such
as LS120/240 floppy drive, CDROM and hard drives or flash IDE drives.
SOFTWARE SUPPORT
The TRL6227 comes standard with AMI BIOS. Options are available for OS boot
files loaded to on-board flash. The BIOS is user configurable to boot up
from local flash memory, a fixed or floppy drive or over a network. The
flexibility of the BIOS allows the TRL6227 to operate in many
configurations to support all popular operating systems such as all MS
Windows OS, QNX, VxWorks, Linux and Sun Solaris x86.
